Waterskiing, sailing and canoeing are just a sample of the activities available on the river.
Lake Mulwala offers excellent fishing, with the choice of ten public boat ramps and the added advantage of guaranteed water levels all year round.
A paddleboat cruise around the lake will take you through a nature wonderland - flooded red gums with their nesting sites for cockatoos, galahs, pelicans, ibis and other waterbirds.
As the Murray winds through the district it disappears into a number of State forests: the Barooga, Cottadidda, Boomanoomana and Mulwala and these conservation areas are worthy destinations for their unique river wetlands and swamplands.
In this section of the Murray, at every turn, you will find sandy river beaches, the largest being Thompsons Beach at Cobram.
At Yarrawonga you can visit the National Trust-listed Byramine Homestead, built by Elizabeth Hume, sister-in-law of explorer Hamilton Hume.
Yarrawonga-Mulwala and the surrounding district is a strong farming area and much of the local produce is available to visitors from the farm gate. You can pick your own fruit at a number of locations and purchase local cheese direct from the dairy. A brochure for The Farm Gate Trail is available at the local Visitor Information Centre.
